Waste Management: Not just a load of old rubbish!

17 Jul 2018 General all,

Recycling, waste management and resource recovery is not just a load of old rubbish, here at MultiTek Solutions it's something that we take very seriously. Our company prides itself on going that extra mile to help reduce its impact on the planet. We understand that Australia's waste industry has reached a crisis point and that there is so much more to recycling than just sorting waste into categories. We send our waste materials to places where it can be transformed into reusable products and in the process reduce the amount of waste generated.

Unfortunately, one of the downsides of being in the technology industry is dealing with many products that have travelled hundreds of miles and are encased and protected by vast amounts of packaging. We make it a priority to meticulously gather-up and sort our packaging into piles of cardboard, polystyrene, cable, metal and plastics. When working at construction sites, we choose to remove all our waste packaging wherever possible, rather than leaving it at building sites or dumping it in clients’ skips. At installations, we always encourage best practice waste management and resource recovery. We are socially conscious and environmentally responsible.

As a small to medium-sized business, we try to do whatever we can, wherever we can to help reduce our footprint on the environment; we don't want our waste material going to landfill, we try very hard to avoid this.

MultiTek Solutions wants to have a positive impact on the world! We know the amount of waste people create is increasing all the time and that new packaging and technological products often contain materials that are not always biodegradable, therefore, Reducing, Reusing and Recycling is very important to us. Eco-friendly habits save us money and make the world a better place.

Our sustainability practices include:

  • Responsibly disposing of all projector globes containing mercury through Australasia’s most experienced mercury recovery and recycling company - CMA Ecocylce.
  • Our Cardboard goes to CoGG Waste Transfer Station.
  • Polystyrene goes to http://gdp-industries.org.au
  • Televisions, batteries and computer items are sent to North Geelong Resource Recovery Centre.
  • Our cable offcuts go to Geelong’s Metal Recyclers.
  • We use energy efficient lighting
  • We use recycled paper and when finished with we recycle again.
  • We use cutting-edge DYNALITE lighting controls that sense building occupancy and shut down when not in use.
  • We collect all our domestic co-mingled kitchen waste and recycle it fortnightly (paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and metals).
