Ballarat Tech School – LED Wall

Project Perspective

Ballarat Tech School is one of ten Tech Schools across Victoria, delivering immersive STEM experiences to secondary school students and encouraging pathways into STEM-related careers. Central to the school’s operations is its main presentation space—a welcoming, flexible environment used to host large student groups, staff briefings, and external presentations.

To meet changing requirements, Ballarat Tech School needed a scalable, modern audiovisual solution that could support both in-room presentations and remote collaboration—without increasing complexity for staff.

The presentation space originally featured three side-by-side projectors and lacked integrated video conferencing capability, this required temporary camera setups and manual configuration, creating inefficiencies and placing additional demands on staff. With the rapid shift toward hybrid learning and collaboration—accelerated during the COVID period—the school required a permanent, intuitive solution.

Technical Requirements

MultiTek Solutions delivered a flexible AV-over-IP solution built around Crestron NVX technology, providing both scalability and long-term system continuity.

A large Curved NEC LED video wall replaced the legacy projection system, driven by multiple NVX endpoints. The system now supports multiple input sources simultaneously, A multi-output desktop PC forming a single large display as well as seamless switching between presentation and conferencing modes.

Importantly, the new NVX endpoints were deployed alongside existing NVX hardware, demonstrating the platform’s backwards compatibility and enabling the school to build on its existing investment rather than replace it.

The system is controlled via Crestron touch panels located on the wall and lectern. Staff simply walk in, power on the system, and select their desired mode—presentation or video conferencing—with screen layouts automatically reconfiguring in the background.

Outcomes

The upgraded presentation space is now intuitive, powerful, and future-ready. Staff can host sessions with minimal setup, while students benefit from a modern, immersive learning environment.
