Project Perspective
GMHBA Health insurance has a long and proud history in Geelong having been founded in 1934.
From the fund’s humble beginnings, GMHBA has grown to become Australia’s leading regionally based not-for-profit health insurer.
Due to this growth GMHBA embarked on a full upgrade of their headquarters, partnering with
Kane Constructions and Quintessential Equity to deliver a new nine storey building in the heart of Geelong’s CBD known as 60 Moorabool St.
Occupying three of the nine floors in this new building, GMHBA included office and call centre space along with a range of meeting rooms and presentation spaces as well as co-working spaces and communal areas for staff to relax during breaks.
Anova Electrical and MultiTek Solutions teamed up on this project to provide a full suite of services including our services in Audio Visual to the new headquarters with the view to using the latest in collaboration and presentation technology and the results did not disappoint.
Technical Requirements
As the brief was for collaboration across the entire organisation, it is no surprise that the requirement at the top of the list was making each meeting space capable of video conferencing using Microsoft Teams. Crestron Flex was chosen as the platform of choice as their range allowed for the implementation of this technology in a range of different ways. The use of all-in-one sound bars with a single display for small meeting rooms, tabletop speakerphone devices for huddle spaces and the ability to implement third party devices such as ceiling microphones, camera systems and distributed audio to larger meeting rooms and the boardroom. These rooms were complimented with room booking panels outside each space for ease of booking and managing the spaces. Each space was fitted with an appropriately sized LCD screen from LG including large dual 98″ Screens for the boardroom and screens throughout the transit areas showing the organisations custom digital signage from Vitec using LG’s System on Chip capability. Audio throughout each space was centralised using a Q-sys core with redundancy provided by a core on each of the three levels capable of failing over should a core go offline. Larger rooms were fitted with Shure MXA910 Ceiling microphones, Crestron Ceiling Speakers and Lumens Cameras.
Outcomes
During the Construction Phase, MultiTek Solutions kept close contact with the team at GMHBA to ensure that implementation of all systems happened seamlessly and with minimal issues. This ensured that key aspects of the building such as digital signage and conferencing software were online and operational from day one. We also continued to work closely with our Partners, Anova Electrical and Kane Constructions to ensure our construction responsibilities were thoroughly met. This included finalising installs, submitting Commissioning reports, finalising As built drawings and operation and maintenance Manuals. The final results were everything you would expect from a modern workplace; beautiful open spaces ideal for collaboration, a range of meeting options fitted out with the best technology allowing for high efficiency and modern amenities including end of trip facilities, communal spaces, quiet booths and breathtaking views over Geelong’s famous Corio Bay. MultiTek Solutions were proud to be a part of this fantastic project and enjoy an ongoing relationship with GMHBA to this day.
