Project Perspective
The Maribyrnong City Council covers a large geographical area in the fast-growing western suburbs of Melbourne. As such, the 100+ year old building which was the former Footscray Town Hall required an extensive expansion to accommodate the staff and services required for a growing precinct.
Umow and Wooster was selected as the AV technology consultant who designed a series of AV spaces tailored to the needs of the client. DesignInc was the architect charged with the design of this important space and beautifully combined old with new by merging the existing heritage-listed building making up the community wing and a modern extension for the executive and administration team. Ireland Brown Constructions won the contract to realise this vision and ultimately chose to partner again with MultiTek Solutions for the AV technology package.
Technical Requirements
The AV technology consisted of many meeting, presentation and boardroom spaces across the administration wing, and bookable meeting and presentation spaces throughout the community wing. In addition to these spaces, there was also a large combinable presentation space and a large collaboration space which doubles as an emergency response facility during emergencies.
All spaces utilised control, video transport, audio and wireless presentation from Crestron as well as room booking panels for each bookable space and the Flex range for all rooms requiring video conference facilities.
Sharp/NEC provided all displays, including projectors for larger spaces and LCD panels for smaller spaces and the video wall in the emergency response room.
Shure’s ULX-D range provided wireless microphones to several large presentation spaces, and the MX series ceiling tile microphones were used for video conferencing spaces.
Outcomes
The transformation of the Maribyrnong Civic and Community Precinct was an 18-month process and culminated in the successful handover to the client in the final weeks of 2024. With the building fully operational and all trades finished, the results spoke for themselves. Every part of this new space was delivered with meticulous detail and in the end created a warm and welcoming environment which went far beyond a traditional town hall.
MultiTek delivered the AV systems to this amazing space by working with all stakeholders to ensure the design was fit for purpose. Our installation team spent months ensuring all infrastructure and hardware were installed to the highest quality and our programming and commissioning team provided the finishing touches to ensure the systems were easy to use and operated flawlessly.
The client could not have been happier with the results, and we were only too happy to be a part of this amazing project. MultiTek Solutions and the Maribyrnong City Council still enjoy a great ongoing working relationship which was founded on this project.
